First-time creative collaborators [composers H. Scott Salinas and Jackson Greenberg], the divergence in age, experience, and iTunes playlists between them resulted in distinct challenges and a unique simultaneously colloquial and non-verbal counter-intuitive synchronicity elegance. -Michael Rogers, Film Music Magazine

‘7 Minutes’ Heist Thriller Now Playing In Theaters, Soundtrack Feat. Tomandandy Score + Various Artists Coming Soon

“7 Minutes” knows exactly what it is: a directorial calling card to the Quentin Tarantino school of blood-bath cinema. Colorful peripheral characters include Brandi (Mariel Neto), a promiscuous barfly who seduces Mike, and Jerome (Brandon Hardesty), a blubbery policeman who pines for her. In one of the movie’s meanest touches, Jerome takes off his shirt, inspects his torso in a mirror, and screams in horrified despair. This film is a nasty piece of work. –The New York Times

Lakeshore Records will release the soundtrack to 7 Minutes, directed by Jay Martin, a veteran music video director.  The soundtrack features score by tomandandy (GirlHouse, I Melt With You) plus tracks by various artists.  7 Minutes opens in theaters and is available on VOD starting Friday, June 26th via Starz Entertainment (check showtimes).  See below for more on the 7 Minutes movie.  More soundtrack details are forthcoming!

The Mess Hall Band’s Jed Kurzel Scores The Sounds Of The Old West In Sundance Film Festival Winning Buddy Western

John MacLean was once a member of the Beta Band, the great and influential and weirdly underrated Scottish group. He directed some of their videos, and after the group’s breakup, he became a filmmaker. His first movie is Slow West, the new indie Western with Michael Fassbender. The composer Jed Kurzel did most of the Slow West score, but MacLean got one contribution from a band who almost certainly carries some Beta Band influence, the London art-poppers Django Django. Their song “Slow West” is a driving acoustic-guitar instrumental… –Stereogum

Slow West (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) is out now via Lakeshore Records.  The album features score by Jed Kurzel (The Babadook, Macbeth).  Jed is known for being the frontman of Australia’s award-winning The Mess Hall band.  In addition, songs by Werner, Bryan Michael Mills, and Django Django.  Preview the album below and see Slow West now playing in UK cinemas!
