On this thirteenth day, Lakeshore Records looks at the season finale — Hannibal, Season 1 Episode 13: “Savoureux” (Watch it on iTunes). Will’s mental decline results in tragedy, when it appears he may have murdered Abigail Hobbs. With himself as his only defender, Will desperately tries to prove he’s being framed by the real Copy Cat killer.
It is as smart and fearless a debut as I have seen from an American filmmaker in quite some time: knowing but not snarky, self-aware but not solipsistic, open to influence and confident in its own originality. –A.O. Scott, The New York Times
Lakeshore Records is very pleased to release the soundtrack to Dear White People, the new film by Justin Simien. The album features a compilation featuring music by Hopsin, Caught A Ghost, Kilo Kish, Starchild & The New Romantic, Andy Allo, Leonard Friend, Kissey, BC Kingdom, Sunni Colon, Blackface, Sean Wyze and Poetik Force, D. German and Mibbs. Dear White People (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) is available digitally on October 21 and on CD on November 18. Dear White People opens in select theaters on October 17 (today!) and nationwide on October 24 (check showtimes).
Winner of the 2014 Sundance Film Festival’s Special Jury Award for Breakthrough Talent, Dear White People is a sly, provocative satire of race relations in the age of Obama. Writer/director Justin Simien follows a group of African American students as they navigate campus life and racial politics at a predominantly white college in a sharp and funny feature film debut that earned him a spot on Variety’s annual “10 Directors to Watch.” When Dear White People screened at MOMA’s prestigious New Directors/New Films, the New York Times’ A.O. Scott wrote, “Seeming to draw equal measures of inspiration from Whit Stillman and Spike Lee, but with his own tart, elegant sensibility very much in control, Mr. Simien evokes familiar campus stereotypes only to smash them and rearrange the pieces.” – See more at: http://www.dearwhitepeoplemovie.com/synopsis#sthash.DrZmw9iJ.dpuf

The most pleasantly surprising element of Rudderless is its soundtrack. The songs, most of which are actually performed by the Rudderless band (Crudup, Yelchin, Ben Kweller, and Ryand Dean, and primarily written by Simon Steadman and Charlton Pettus) are melodious and endearing, both humorous and moving. Crudup and Yelchin prove talented musicians… -Read more at Under the Radar
Rudderless, William H. Macy’s first directorial feature, opens in theaters today (check showtimes)! Find out what all the buzz is about when music begins to heal Sam (Billy Crudup), a grieving father who finds solace in performing his deceased son’s music. The music eventually becomes a catalyst to inspire both Sam and Quentin (Anton Yelchin) to form the band, Rudderless. Joining the band is indie rocker Ben Kweller on bass guitar, and Ryan Dean on drums. The film co-stars Felicity Huffman, Selena Gomez and Laurence Fishburne. Eef Barzelay (of Clem Snide) provides the score for the film.

Overeducated and underemployed, 28-year-old Megan (Keira Knightley) is in the throes of a quarter-life crisis. Squarely into adulthood with no career prospects, no particular motivation to think about her future, and no one to relate to, Megan is comfortable lagging a few steps behind while her friends check off milestones and celebrate their new grown-up status. When her high-school sweetheart (Mark Webber) proposes, Megan panics and—given an unexpected opportunity to escape for a week—hides out in the home of her new friend, 16-year old Annika (Chloë Grace Moretz) and Annika’s world-weary single dad Craig (Sam Rockwell). Director Lynn Shelton (Your Sister’s Sister, Humpday) crafts a sweet, romantic coming-of-age comedy about three people who find their lives intertwined in the most unconventional way as they make their way through the imperfect realities of modern-day life. Laggies opens in select theaters on October 24 and nationwide on November 7 (check showtimes).
