Listen To ‘Forging The Beast’ By Johann Johannsson (Mandy Soundtrack) | Paste

Heavy synthesizer builds throughout, evoking a sense of pursuit that’s all too fitting for a film with a plot described as “set in the primal wilderness of 1983, Red Miller, a broken and haunted man, hunts an unhinged religious sect who slaughtered the love of his life.” – Paste Magazine

Ahead of the Mandy soundtrack release on September 14, the world is given a first listen to Johann Johannsson’s score cue, “Forging The Beast” at Paste Magazine!  The single comes as an instant-grat track (as well as “Children of the New Dawn” and a Bonus Track) for those who pre-order the full album on iTunes this Friday, August 3!  The equally highly-anticipated film by Panos Cosmatos opens in theaters next month.  Will you be getting tickets?

Mandy: The Highly Anticipated Movie Trailer Debuts, Johann Johannsson Score Coming Soon | The Playlist

Cage’s seemingly inherent visceral nature is back on display in “Mandy,” which many from Sundance consider being his best work yet –  Jacob Davison, The Playlist

Panos Cosmatos’ Mandy movie is one of the most highly-anticipated films of the year, starring Nicolas Cage, Andrea Riseborough and Linus Roache.  The Playlist pretty much says it seems as if everything Cage has done so far has led up to this.  You’ll have to watch the trailer to find out.  It’s psychedelic.  It’s metal.  It’s everything and more.

Suffice it to say, the late Johann Johannsson’s score is equally highly-anticipated. Read the full story at The Playlist!  What do you think of the trailer?  Let us know in the comments below.

Considering this, its safe to say that only greatness is expected from any title with a Jóhannsson stamp of approval.

Mandy. The time has come… Trailer Premiere Wed Jun 27th. – – We miss Jóhann so much.- – – “The soundtrack is equally highly worked, though dominated by Oscar-nommed Icelandic composer Johann Johansson’s original score, which sports a variety of textures apt for a movie that often feels like a vintage prog-metal concept album illustrated.” – Variety – – “The grainy 16mm imagery, a vibrant mixture of neon hues and shadows set to Johan Johansson’s disorienting score, suggests a gothic fantasy unfolding within the confines of a heavy-metal poster.” -IndieWire – – “Mandy doesn’t have a heavy metal soundtrack (though its soundtrack is an incredible hodgepodge of eerie brooding synths), but it is a total heavy metal movie, filled with panel-van airbrush imagery, cultist weirdos, and a group of bikers that seem inspired by Cenobites in the best way possible (they also have their very own drug, and when Cage takes a taste it is a sight to behold). This movie even has animated sequences and a chainsaw duel.” – BirthMoviesDeath – – “Cosmatos is the dominating force for “Mandy”‘s avant-garde horror first half, relishing demonic synth music cues (from Johann Johannsson) and establishing many characters as mysterious, rambling beings of an insidious universe. “- RogerEbert.com – – #mandyfilm #mandy #sundance #filmtrailer #nicholascage #johannjohannsson #spectrevision #beyondtheblackrainbow #panoscosmatos #cultfilm #midnightmovie #elijahwood #filmcomposer #soundtrack #soundtracks #moviesoundtrack #horror #horrormovie #lakeshorerecords #invadarecords #revenge #moviemusic @johann_johannss @spectrevision @spectrevisionmusic #andreariseborough @invadarecords @lakeshorelovesvinyl @panoscosmatos @wallerjoshc #xyzfilms @xyzfilms #filmscore #filmcomposer @indiewire @variety #variety #indiewire @johnhbergin #electronicmusic
