Stranger Things: Moog On Grammy® Nominees Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein’s Years Of Love-Driven Dedication To Their Craft

Moog checks in on Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein, the Grammy®-nominated composing duo who have been dedicated to their craft and love of analog synthesizers for years.  See the full story here.  While to some they may appear to be overnight successes from their widely-acclaimed Stranger Things score, these musicians (one-half of Austin band S U R V I V E), have been around the music scene for years.  The infectious soundtrack is part of the cultural phenomenon that is the Netflix hit television series, reaching iconic status in such a short time.

Their band S U R V I V E played a Moog showcase at SXSW 2013 and Moogfest 2014, and this week, they visited the Moog Sound Lab to sculpt new sonic worlds and share laughs over Thai food.

With a busy scoring and tour schedule, and now the GRAMMYs® approaching on February 12, we wonder when these guys get to sleep.

Grammys 2017: Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein’s ‘Insane’ Meteoric Rise As ‘Stranger Things’ Composers Cannot Be Understated

Getting nominated for two GRAMMY® awards is an amazing peak on our ‘Stranger Things’ journey,” said Dixon. “The directors were previously fans of S U R V I V E. They used a song from our first LP in a trailer they made to pitch their concept to Netflix. Once the show was picked up, they reached out to see if we were available to score the show.” Stein added, “We wanted a classic synth tone and feel to the music for the show, while offering a refreshing quality so it felt modern. Now we’re nominated for two GRAMMY awards which is insane. – PR Web

If you own the Stranger Things soundtrack, then you already know that Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein’s now iconic two-time GRAMMY®-nominated score is infectious in the best possible way.  Their contribution to the film and television music worlds cannot be understated!
