‘Dear White People’ Receives Top 5 Best Reviewed Film Golden Tomato + GLAAD Media Awards Nom, Film Now On VOD, Own The Soundtrack!

Congratulations goes to Dear White People for landing the top 5 films list from RottenTomatoes.com, scoring the coveted Golden Tomato, and a nomination for the GLAAD Media Awards. The Golden Tomato was awarded to only five movies this year, based on the “Best-Reviewed Movies And TV Shows of 2014.” Dear White People (soundtrack released by Lakeshore Records) is one of five nominees in the Outstanding Film – Limited Release category. ‘Dear White People’ Score Top Nominations From NAACP Image Awards, Movie Now Playing Nationwide, Soundtrack Out Now On Lakeshore Records

Congratulations goes to Justin Simien, writer and director of Dear White People on receiving nominations for “Outstanding Motion Picture,” “Outstanding Independent Motion Picture,” and “Outstanding Writing In A Motion Picture (Theatrical)” from the NAACP Image Awards. Tessa Thompson, who stars in the film, also received a nomination for “Outstanding Actress In A Motion Picture.”

Dear White People (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) is out now on Lakeshore Records.

The much buzzed about Justin Simien was named to Variety’s “Top 10 Directors To Watch” and Dear White People the movie, continues to seize public attention since premiering in January and garnering the “Special Jury Prize” at the Sundance Film Festival and “Winner: Best Picture” at the San Francisco Film Festival, among others, this year. BuzzFeed Premieres Caught A Ghost’s ‘Get Your Life’ Music Video Directed By Dear White People’s Justin Simien

In an interview with BuzzFeed, she [Tessa Thompson] explained that the soundtrack song “Get Your Life” was “a really nice point of intersection that happened organically.” After Dear White People premiered at Sundance, director Justin Simien asked if she and Jesse would be interested in contributing a song to the film. While they were thrilled to be included, Jesse confessed “it took until the eleventh hour to think of an original song.”

Lakeshore Records will release the score album to the critically-acclaimed film, Dear White People, directed by Justin Simien. Scored by Kathryn Bostic (Middle of Nowhere, I Will Follow), the movie is now playing nationwide (check show times). In describing her score, Bostic said, “We hear classical, hip hop, electronic, jazz, etc. and it all makes sense and really serves the storytelling. I got to play around with many different textures alongside orchestral instrumentation. And of course, as a pianist I loved being able to add this to the score particularly in the ‘love theme’ I created.” Dear White People (Original Motion Picture Score) is available on iTunes on November 18.
