My expectations of a romantic comedy score aren’t usually very big and “Playing it cool” easily surpasses them. It’s short, it’s only a collection of moments and it has a theme I had time to recognize in 20 minutes of music. The score never drags and has a very enjoyable rhythm. Lakeshore Records is pleased to release the soundtrack to Playing It Cool, the new film starring Chris Evans (Snowpiercer, Captain America: The Winter Soldier), Michelle Monaghan (Better Living Through Chemistry, Source Code), Luke Wilson (Henry Poole Is Here, My Super Ex-Girlfriend), Topher Grace (Interstellar, Spider-Man 3), Anthony Mackie (Repentance, Captain America: The Winter Soldier), Aubrey Plaza (NBC’s Parks and Recreation, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) and Phillip Baker Hall (People Like Us, Magnolia), is available on VOD on February 14 and in theaters later this year. The soundtrack features the score by Jake Monaco (Let’s Be Cops, Out To Kill, Runner, Runner), available now digitally on iTunes. Few, if any underground emcees are as adept at murdering mics as La Coka Nostra emcee Slaine and Swollen Member Madchild—so, now that they’ve joined forces as Supreme Villain, I think it’s safe to say their foes are shaking in their shoes. On their first joint single, part of the soundtrack to upcoming indie film GirlHouse (starring Slaine, among others), the partners-in-rhyme showcase their collaborative chemistry over a hard-hitting beat by The Arcitype. Lakeshore Records Will Release The Score Album To ‘The Age of Adaline,’ The New Film Starring Blake Lively, Michiel Huisman, Kathy Baker With Harrison Ford And Ellen Burstyn

The album features new original score by critically acclaimed composer Rob Simonsen (Foxcatcher, The Spectacular Now, Seeking A Friend for the End of the World) and the new exclusive song “Start Again” written by Rob Simonsen and Faux Fix (Katie Chastain and Nathan Johnson), with vocals by Elena Tonra of the band, Daughter. Faux Fix previously collaborated with Son Lux on the acclaimed track, “No Fate Awaits Me,” featured on the The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby soundtrack released by Lakeshore Records. If you’re looking for a fun date night movie to watch — perhaps for Valentine’s Day — then check out Horns on Netflix, starring Daniel Radcliffe and Juno Temple. “Ig Perish” (Daniel Radcliffe) is devastated when his girlfriend (Juno Temple) is murdered mysteriously. Supernatural things start happening just as he begins to investigate her murder while trying to prove his innocence; however, he looks more and more guilty because, well, he sprouts horns on his head. The score by Robin Coudert lends to the surreal and dark atmosphere while music from the likes of David Bowie, and Pixies, The Flaming Lips and Marilyn Manson, gives it that rock ‘n’ roll fable edge that delighted audiences when the film premiered last Halloween.
