What is it about car chase movies that we love?  Entertainment Weekly recently released their “The Apocalypse Issue,” featuring Tom Hardy (Warrior, Inception) and Charlize Theron (Sleepwalking, Prometheus), for the forthcoming Mad Max: Fury Road, which is expected to premiere in May 2015.  It has been described as a chase that “continues for 110 minutes,” according to Mad Max creator, George Miller.  Can’t wait?  Check out this roundup of seven memorable car chase movies that you’ll want to queue up on your playlist.  The soundtracks released by Lakeshore Records are injected with enough adrenaline to get you through those long commutes with or without road warriors coming after you.

Now On Demand: Matt Dillon Goes Soul Searching In ‘City Of Ghosts’

City of Ghosts (watch it on HBO Go) marks Matt Dillon‘s directorial debut in a film about a con man (“Jimmy” played by Dillon) who travels to Cambodia to collect on an insurance scam.  The soundtrack released by Lakeshore Records features a fantastic compilation of music artists whose music almost serve as echoes of ghosts: from internationally-recognized Dengue Fever to vintage French music, the album recaptures the spirit of Cambodia’s history, serving as a canvas for Jimmy’s risky venture.

New On Netflix: Josh Hartnett Searches For His Lost Love In ‘Wicker Park’ | Score By Cliff Martinez

What do you do when the love of your life disappears inexplicably two years ago, and you think you’ve just seen her?  Josh Hartnett and Diane Kruger sizzle on screen as two lovers who experience an epic missed connection.  Composer Cliff Martinez (Drive, The Lincoln Lawyer) pulls in all the instrumental elements for a score which hones in on the sense of longing, desperation and confusion as the story unfolds.  Released by Lakeshore Records, music by Stereophonics, Lifehouse, Death Cab for Cutie, Snow Patrol, Broken Social Scene, The Stills, Mazzy Star, The Legends, The Shins, Jaime Wyatt, The Postal Service, Aqua Lung, Mogwai, Mates of State, +/-, múm, and Danny Lohner and Johnette Napolitano (who cover a Coldplay song), comprise a very mixtape soundtrack for lovers.

Now On Demand: Watch The Critically Acclaimed ‘Wristcutters: A Love Story’

Here’s a must-watch indie film for music lovers: Wristcutters: A Love Story is now On Demand (watch it on HBO Go).  The dark comedy, starring Patrick Fugit, Shea Whigham, Shannyn Sossamon and Tom Waits is available through June 30, so don’t miss it.  The soundtrack released by Lakeshore Records features tracks from Joy Division, Gogol Bordello, Mikal Lasarev, Del Shannon, Screaming Lord Sutch and a score by Composer Bobby Johnston (No Impact Man).  Wristcutters was an indie film festival favorite and received a nomination for the Grand Jury Award at the Sundance Film Festival (2006).

The Wolf of Wall Street’s Leonardo DiCaprio Doesn’t Wait Till The 11th Hour

Actor Leonardo DiCaprio‘s track record of tackling socially conscious personal projects are well documented.  Before playing Jordan Belfort in Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street (co-stars 22 Jump Street‘s Jonah Hill of Superbad and Megamind fame), DiCaprio produced the environmental documentary, The 11th Hour.  Lakeshore Records released both the The 11th Hour (Original Motion Picture Score) featuring a score by Jean Pascal Beintus and Eric Avery, and the various artists soundtrack, which features an incredible compilation of music from Sigur Rós, Cocteau Twins, Mogwai, Lukas Haas, Arve Henriksen, Dirty Three, Deaf Center, Triola, Ulf Lohmann and Lamb.
