White Bird In A Blizzard: Named Among The 10 Best Soundtracks & Film Scores Of 2014 | BlackBook

When it comes to the sonic world of a film, music should be used with delicacy and forethought as if it were a character itself. The audience shouldn’t feel manipulated by a score or a song placed over a scene just so, as the cinematic sounds of a movie should simply be another layer inside a moment of its own merit—enhancing our viewing experience by catering to all the senses. -BlackBook

Congratulations goes to White Bird In A Blizzard for being named on BlackBook’s 10 Best Soundtrack and Film Scores of 2014!  Both the score album by Robin Guthrie & Harold Budd and the various artists album, released by Lakeshore Records, were included in this tightly-edited selection.  Go to BBook.com for the full list.

A Merry Friggin’ Christmas Soundtrack Named On Wall Street Journal’s ‘Six Albums For The Holiday Season’ List!

This soundtrack to one of Robin Williams ’s last films opens with Rufus Wainwright singing “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” backed by a 55-piece orchestra. The album then features mostly to hip holiday originals like Anna Su ’s mischievous “Santa Will Be Flying Over the Moon,” Spencer Shapeero ’s meditative “The Weather Outside” and FM Radio’s galloping “More Than I Wished For.” Mr. Wainwright returns at the end with his own “Christmas Is for Kids.” A cozy collection of cutting-edge noëls.

Regarding Susan Sontag: Documentary About ‘A Rock Star Of Intellectuals’ Airs On HBO Throughout December, Soundtrack Feat. Laura Karpman & Nora-Kroll Rosenbaum Coming Soon

A highly watchable film…Kates also dresses the screen with poetical visual interludes — animated type resolving into a portrait of the writer, a naked female torso to accompany Sontag’s sexual realizing that she liked women in a way she hadn’t liked men. (It wasn’t until 2000 that she publicly acknowledged her bisexuality.) These moves are not strictly necessary, but they give the film a dreaminess that suits the subject and complements the grainier, rougher archival footage.

Regarding Susan Sontag Soundtrack Coming Soon From Lakeshore Records

Passionate and gracefully outspoken, Susan Sontag was a prominent literary, political and feminist icon.  As a critic, novelist, teacher, filmmaker, activist and iconoclast, her love of learning and examinations of cultural and political ideas made her both a compelling public figure and a significant 20th-century critic.  A complex person, Sontag fiercely guarded her privacy, despite her boldness in the literary world.
