Brooklyn, the critically acclaimed new film starring Saoirse Ronan, features an evocative soundtrack that recreates the pre-rock and roll ambiance of 1950’s Ireland and the United States.

But Irish emigrants will be especially moved by the acappella version of the Irish folk song ‘Casadh an tSugain’ sung by Iarla Ó Lionáird at a key point in the film. – IrishCentral

There’s something about the sweeping chime of a flute or the quiet beat of a bodhrans that makes me dream. Oh and the violin, forgot about that. Michael Brooke[sic] makes use of that wonderful instrument in the heartfelt opening moments of the score. The music has my attention from the get go because of this quiet and almost mournful tone which almost makes me think of Nick Cave and Warren Ellis’ music. – Soundtrack Dreams
