Congratulations goes to composer David Wingo (Mud, Snow Angels, Take Shelter) whose score for The Great Invisible is nominated for Outstanding Achievement In Original Music Score from Cinema Eye. The Great Invisible, directed by Margaret Brown won the Grand Jury Prize for Best Documentary earlier this year at the SXSW Film & Music Festival and has received early Oscar buzz. Documentarian Margaret Brown’s new film depicts the response to the 2010 Deepwater Horizon explosion and resultant oil spill from multiple viewpoints. On April 20, 2010, communities throughout the Gulf Coast of the United States were devastated by the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon, a state-of-the-art, offshore oilrig operated by BP in the Gulf of Mexico. The blast killed 11 of 126 rig crewmembers and injured many more, setting off a fireball that was seen 35 miles away. After burning for two days, the Deepwater Horizon sank, causing the largest offshore oil spill in American history.

‘White Bird In A Blizzard’ Claims A Spot In ‘Best Soundtrack Moments Of October’ Roundup | Stereogum

Stereogum has named director Gregg Araki’s White Bird In A Blizzard in its roundup of Best Soundtrack Moments of October, planted firmly in the #2 slot.

Well, this is another one of those ’80s-set shoe-ins where there’s just no way I was going to be able to help myself. The score to White Bird In A Blizzard was handled by Robin Guthrie, the guitarist of Cocteau Twins, AKA the man responsible for some of the most ethereal and beautiful guitar work out there. The opening credits are set to Cocteau Twins’ “Sea, Swallow Me,” and through the various dream sequences and flashbacks, there’s always Guthrie’s guitar, reliably doing what it’s always been so effective at: putting all those strange and ineffable elements of human experience and memory into an actual sound. -Read the full story at Stereogum.

Starring Shailene Woodley, Eva Green, Shiloh Fernandez and Christopher Meloni, White Bird In A Blizzard takes place in the ’80s and early part of the ’90s, featuring a period-correct soundtrack. Song One: New Movie Trailer Features Anne Hathaway & Johnny Flynn, Soundtrack Coming Soon, Film In Theaters & VOD On January 23

Yahoo! Movies premiered the new Song One movie trailer, featuring co-stars Anne Hathaway and Johnny Flynn. Lakeshore Records will release the soundtrack, coming soon.

A tragic event brings unexpected romance into Anne Hathaway’s life in Song One, the feature-film debut of writer-director Kate Barker-Froyland. Here’s the first trailer for the indie drama, which stars Hathaway as Franny, an anthropologist who flies home from Morocco when she learns that her musician brother is in a coma. In between hospital visits, Franny sets out to explore her brother’s favorite New York City haunts, including a concert hall where his idol, singer-songwriter James Forrester (Johnny Flynn), is playing.

‘Song One’ New Movie Poster Premieres, Anne Hathaway Film Opens On January 23, Soundtrack Coming Soon!

Apart from singing traditional songs and learning Bob Dylan songs or whatever, I don’t usually sing other people’s music. But it was cool because the songs were an extension of the script, as far as the clues to who the character is. I had occasional suggestions, and they were very cool about humoring me with my ideas. Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway (Interstellar, Rachel Getting Married), Johnny Flynn and Academy Award winner Mary Steenburgen (The One I Love, CBS’ Joan of Arcadia) star in the upcoming Song One, directed by Kate Barker-Froyland. Entertainment Weekly has debuted the new movie poster. Lakeshore Records will release the soundtrack featuring new music featured in the film as well as songs from other bands from the film (read our previous announcement). Walking With The Enemy Soundtrack Feat. The Score Composed And Conducted By Timothy Williams Out Now

Lakeshore Records is pleased to release the soundtrack to Walking With The Enemy, featuring original music composed and conducted by Timothy Williams (Composer: Red Sky; Orchestrator: Guardians of the Galaxy), who recorded the score at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in England. “It was a dream come true to record my score at the famed Abbey Road Studios, with some of the finest musicians in the world. They brought such passion and depth to the music. It was recorded by the legendary Andrew Dudman and Sam Okell, and mixed by the talented John Rodd.” The soundtrack out now on iTunes and will be on CD on February 10.
