‘Song One’ New Movie Poster Premieres, Anne Hathaway Film Opens On January 23, Soundtrack Coming Soon!

We got to actually make the record that is referenced in the movie. -Read the full story at Entertainment Weekly.

Song One: Film Ft. Songs Written By Jenny Lewis and Johnathan Rice, Performances By Felice Brothers & More – Soundtrack Coming Soon!

Flynn, who’s an actor and musician, imbues James with the soulfulness of an artist, performing the character’s songs (written by indie songwriters Jenny Lewis and Johnathan Rice) with a simplicity that doesn’t try to oversell James’s talent. What could have been a mopey, self-obsessed portrait of a flash in the pan is instead a genuine portrayal of a floundering musician who fears that his peak is already behind him, no matter how many teen girls still think he’s a dreamy poet.
-Tim Grierson, Paste Magazine

Lakeshore Records is pleased to release the soundtrack to Song One, featuring original songs written by Jenny Lewis and Johnathan Rice, performed by Johnny Flynn.

Additional on screen performances are Felice Brothers, Sharon Van Etten, Dan Deacon, Naomi Shelton and more, coming soon!  Song One, starring Anne Hathaway, debuted at Sundance this year, and will show at film festivals this month.  Stay tuned for more soundtrack details.

SONG ONE stars Anne Hathaway, Mary Steenburgen and Johnny Flynn.  Directed by Kate Barker-Froyland, the film is produced by Marc Platt, Jonathan Demme (Rachel Getting Married), Anne Hathaway, Adam Shulman, Christopher Woodrow and Molly Conners.  Anne Hathaway plays “Franny,” an archaeologist who returns home to see her brother who is seriously injured in a car accident.  Although she disapproved of her brother dropping out of school to become a full-time musician, she digs for ways to connect with her estranged brother, including seeking out his favorite indie musician, “James Forester,” played by Johnny Flynn (of Johnny Flynn & The Sussex Wit).
