‘Dear White People’ Score Top Nominations From NAACP Image Awards, Movie Now Playing Nationwide, Soundtrack Out Now On Lakeshore Records

Congratulations goes to Justin Simien, writer and director of Dear White People on receiving nominations for “Outstanding Motion Picture,” “Outstanding Independent Motion Picture,” and “Outstanding Writing In A Motion Picture (Theatrical)” from the NAACP Image Awards.  Tessa Thompson, who stars in the film, also received a nomination for “Outstanding Actress In A Motion Picture.”

Dear White People (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) is out now on Lakeshore Records.  

The much buzzed about Justin Simien was named to Variety’s “Top 10 Directors To Watch” and Dear White People the movie, continues to seize public attention since premiering in January and garnering the “Special Jury Prize” at the Sundance Film Festival and “Winner: Best Picture” at the San Francisco Film Festival, among others, this year.  Go to Variety.com to read the full list of nominations.  The NAACP Image Awards will be telecast live on February 6 at 9/8c on TV One (check listings).

Ben Gibbard: ‘Laggies’ Composer Talks About Singing In ‘Subterranean’, Foo Fighters ‘Sonic Highways’ Documentary +More | Rolling Stone

If the Foo Fighters want you to show up somewhere, you just do it,” Ben Gibbard tells Rolling Stone. So when Dave Grohl reached out to the Death Cab For Cutie frontman to ask if he’d participate in the Foos’ HBO documentary series Sonic Highways, Gibbard didn’t hesitate.

Laggies composer Benjamin Gibbard is no stranger to contributing to films.  Before scoring on Laggies — the new coming of age comedy starring Keira Knightley, Chloë Grace Moretz and Sam Rockwell — Benjamin Gibbard scored the Kurt Cobain documentary (with Steve Fisk), Kurt Cobain About A Son (2006).  Directed by Lynn Shelton, Laggies the film is out now nationwide (check show times).
