PLAYING IT COOL is this generation’s SWINGERS meets (500) DAYS OF SUMMER. The story is fresh, quirky, and weirdly relatable as this young, slightly pretentious man falls for an unlikely girl, and will stop at nothing to get her even after realizing she’s already in a relationship. Like a young WALTER MITTY, it tells the story of a quarter-life crisis amidst figuring out who you are and what your destiny holds. Uniquely told, this script has garnered attention and accolades, being named a 2011 Nicholl Fellowship Finalist and scoring high on the year’s BlackList.

Playing It Cool also stars Anthony Mackie (Repentance, Captain America: The Winter Soldier), Patrick Warburton (TedMen In Black II), Ashley Tisdale (Scary Movie 5, High School Musical), Ioan Gruffudd (Fantastic Four, Fox’s Glee), Topher Grace (Interstellar, Spider-Man III) and Giovanni Ribisi (Ted, The Gift).

Merchants Of Doubt: Score By Mark Adler Coming Soon, Film Opens On March 6

Sony Pictures Classics has debuted the official trailer for the doc Merchants of Doubt, from director Robert Kenner (of Food, Inc. previously), that looks at the “pundits-for-hire who present themselves as scientific authorities as they speak about topics like toxic chemicals, pharmaceuticals and climate change.” Essentially, it sheds light on the various lobbyists and corporations that fight endlessly to deny facts in order to maintain a political/financial agenda in their favor. –Firstshowing.net

Inspired by the acclaimed book by Naomi Oreskes and Erik Conway, Merchants of Doubt takes audiences on a satirically comedic, yet illuminating ride into the heart of conjuring American spin.  Filmmaker Robert Kenner lifts the curtain on a secretive group of highly charismatic, silver-tongued pundits-for-hire who present themselves in the media as scientific authorities – yet have the contrary aim of spreading maximum confusion about well-studied public threats ranging from toxic chemicals to pharmaceuticals to climate change. But perhaps the most noteworthy discovery of [Jenny Lewis & Johnathan Rice’s] experience was the fact that once a song was written and accepted, any finishing touches that remained were at the discretion of the script (and ultimately, Flynn himself). “Johnny Flynn’s interpretation of our songs is very much his own. We had little to no input as to how he performed the songs and we think he performed the songs beautifully,” Rice pointed out. –Nylon Magazine
