Assignment X interviews composer Alex Somers on his score for the Cannes Film Festival Award-winning film, Captain Fantastic.   Alex talks about his long-time collaboration with his partner, Jón “Jónsi” Þór Birgisson of Sigur Rós, how they met at Berklee College of Music, and their innovative use of prepared instruments and technology to create their truly unique vocals and instrumentals.  Read the full interview here.  Captain Fantastic (Music From The Film) and Captain Fantastic (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) are both out now on Lakeshore Records.

Captain Fantastic (Music From The Film) is out now on Lakeshore Records, featuring score by Alex Somers!  Learn more about how this amazing album was made, from director Matt Ross’ early inspiration of using music by Sigur Rós and Jónsi and Alex’s music from the Riceboy Sleeps album, to the resulting soundtrack which incorporates contributions by friends Jónsi and Sindri of Sin Fang (who contributes vocals), now on Mike Ragogna’s piece at Huffington Post!
