This year, Lakeshore Records has curated a new playlist of select tracks featuring score cues by the world’s top and rising women composers! You may already know most of these talented individuals who have made a name for themselves in the film, television, and video game music worlds. You may have missed their latest soundtrack releases. In commemoration of International Women’s Day 2022, we invite you to take a listen and hopefully end up on a deep dive of discovery through these incredible composers’ discographies as this Spotify playlist is by no means a complete picture of all they have to offer. What soundtracks have you rediscovered below?
Vampires and werewolves are de rigeur when it comes to Halloween movie nights, which is why we’re thrilled to pair up Jakob’s Wife (starring genre legend Barbara Crampton) and The Wolf of Snow Hollow (starring Jim Cummings and the late Robert Forster)! The scores by Tara Busch and Ben Lovett, respectively, are wicked and suspenseful. Check out our playlist below and get a taste of their sweet and rich sounds.
Right from the opening cue of “Amelia’s Walk,” Busch quickly transports listeners and audience members into a solemnly eerie yet gorgeous world of ethereal mood, with haunting piano and Busch’s ghostly vocals providing a skeleton of what’s to come. – The Film Scorer
Lovett looked to Herrmann for inspiration to complement the film that centers on a case of dead bodies popping up mysteriously. – Vehlinggo
