The gorgeous score for the Netflix original film The King has already amassed 18 million streams on Spotify, underscoring the immersive power of Britell’s haunting tracks and the world of King Henry V. – Screen Rant
Ever since The King–Original Score from the Netflix Film was released in 2019, fans simply could not get enough of the score by three-time Academy Award-nominated Composer Nicholas Britell! With over 18 million streams of the soundtrack on Spotify to date, it is only fitting to give fans more of what they want! Coming this summer, Britell’s film score is expected to release on black vinyl via Lakeshore Records! View more album details below.
For his latest score, Britell worked with director David Michôd to create the sounds of the 15th century for “The King.” Rather than stay faithful to that time period, Britell approached it with, “something that felt timeless in the sense that it could represent any time period.” – Jazz Tangcay, Variety
It is likely as a film music fan you’ve already been enchanted by Nicholas Britell’s score to The King, now on Netflix. The Netflix original film stars Timothee Chalamet (Lady Bird) and Robert Pattinson (The Rover). In this interview over at Variety, the Academy Award-nominated composer pulls back the curtain on how he found the emotional core of the gorgeous, timeless score. Have you had a chance to listen to the full score?
One element that will stick with people is a score which, as composed by Antony Partos and performed by Sam Petty, stands apart. Avoiding the bombast that’s so common in any modern picture even remotely driven by action, its rather a collection soundscapes that capture those barren, desolate feelings which are key to the film’s Australian outback setting.
On the eve of Netflix’s War Machine premiere, Lakeshore Records revisits David Michôd’s previous film, the powerful drama, The Rover, starring Robert Pattinson (The Twilight Saga, Remember Me), Guy Pearce (Memento, The Hurt Locker) and Scoot McNairy (AMC’s “Halt And Catch Fire”). The album features an original score by award-winning Composer Antony Partos (Days of Grace,Adore), with additional music by Sam Petty. David Michôd is one of Australia’s most celebrated filmmakers, winning Best Film at the Sydney Film Festival and Best Film at AACTA (Australia’s Oscars) for The Rover.
