Catch The Fair One: Nathan Halpern’s Score To The Indie Spirit Awards Nominated Film Debuts!

Lakeshore Records has released Nathan Halpern’s score to Film Independent Awards-nominated revenge thriller, Catch The Fair One!  Nathan’s score previously made its premiere at ComingSoon.net, in which the publication says “the score merges ominous orchestrations with tension-filled electronics that provide a dark backdrop to the revenge thriller.”  View full album details and access listening links below. 

Directed by Josef Kubota Wladyka and starring real-life boxer Kali Reis, IFC FILMS’ Catch The Fair One film is in theaters and On Demand now.

Indie Spirit Awards Nominated ‘Catch The Fair One’ Opens In Theaters & VOD February 11

From Executive Producer Darren Aronofsky comes Catch The Fair One, starring real-life boxing champion Kali Reis, who plays “Kaylee,” a Native American boxer who embarks on the fight of her life when she goes undercover in a sex trafficking operation to seek answers and revenge against the men responsible for the disappearance of her sister.  Reis received an Independent Spirit Award Best Female Lead nomination for her role.  

Directed by Josef Kubota Wladyka (Dirty Hands), the film also stars Lisa Emery, Kimberly Guerrero, and Kevin Dunn.  Catch The Fair One film features score by Nathan Halpern, whom you may know from his score to another IFC Films release, Swallow.  Watch the trailer below.  Be sure to subscribe for forthcoming details on this release!

IFC’s ‘Swallow’ Film Snags Indiewire’s No. 2 Spot For Best Movies Oscars List, Score By Nathan Halpern Is A Highlight

As evidenced in the recent weekend box office figures (there are indeed a handful of theaters still open across the country), not even a pandemic has prevented film fans from watching Swallow, the latest IFC Films release that is getting lots of buzz for not only its subject matter and direction (helmed by Carlo Mirabella-Davis), but also the score by Nathan Halpern!  Featured in the No. 2 spot on IndieWire’s “20 Best Movies Eligible For The 2021 Oscars” list, Swallow is in good company with their shortlist of films which have or had plans to make a theatrical run.  See the full list at Indiewire.

For those of you who didn’t see Swallow in theaters before quarantine or at a socially-distanced drive-in, you can now watch the “Hitchkockian” (IndieWire) film now on VOD via IFC Unlimited.

Entertainment) about his collaboration with Swallow Director Carlo Mirabella-Davis (Knife Point, The Swell Season), the body-horror-meets-psychological-thriller now on VOD (get it here).  Halpern provides a written visualization of how his score dials in the film’s visual aesthetics and old Hollywood callbacks.  Lakeshore Records released his score, Swallow — Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, digitally on March 27, and you can listen to the album below.

Tribeca Body Horror ‘Swallow’ Follows A Woman Coming Undone In Isolation, Score By Nathan Halpern | Vulture

It’s the setup for a portrait of a breakdown, for an installment of that venerable, sadism-inflected mini-genre that is the portrait of a woman coming undone, often in isolation. – Vulture

IFC’s latest feature, Swallow follows one woman’s unraveling as she struggles to reclaim independence in the face of an oppressive system by whatever means possible.  Directed by Cairo Mirabella-Davis (Knifepoint), the film opened recently in select theaters and is now available on VOD.  The film won the Special Prize at the Deauville Film Festival and Best Actress for Haley Bennett at Tribeca.

The film stars Haley Bennett, Austin Stowell, Denis O’Hare and  Elizabeth Marvel, and features score by Nathan Halpern (One & Two).  See more details below.
