‘The Last Repair Shop’ Wins Academy Award For Best Documentary Short Film!

Kris Bowers and Ben Proudfoot’s The Last Repair Shop wins the Oscar® for Best Documentary Short Film! This is composer-producer Kris Bowers’ first win and second collaboration with Academy Award-winning producer Ben Proudfoot.  Previously, Bowers and Proudfoot collaborated on the Academy Award-nominated documentary, A Concerto Is A Conversation (2021).  Kris Bowers is known in the film music world for his work in Chevalier, “Bridgerton“, When They See Us, Green Book, and many more.

Oscars 2024: Ben Proudfoot and Kris Bowers’ ‘The Last Repair Shop’ Secures A Nomination!

Major congratulations to Ben Proudfoot and Kris Bowers on their Academy Award Best Documentary Short Film nomination for The Last Repair Shop!  Premiering last year at the Telluride Film Festival, the film would eventually go on to earn a Critic’s Choice Documentary Awards win, an HMMA Awards Best Score nomination (by Katya Richardson & Kris Bowers), a Black Reel Awards Outstanding Short Film nomination, and an Astra Award Best Short Film nomination!  This is Proudfoot and Bowers’ second Academy Award-nominated collaboration since 2020’s A Concerto Is A Conversation.

Congratulations to all the nominees this year!  The 96th Academy Awards ceremony will take place March 10, 2024 at the Dolby® Theatre at Ovation Hollywood and will be televised live on ABC.  View the full list at The New York Times.

Critic’s Choice Documentary Awards: Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie, The Deepest Breath + More Take Home Wins!

Davis Guggenheim’s Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie won big at the  Eighth Annual Critic’s Choice Documentary Awards!  The ceremony, which is an offshoot of the Critic’s Choice Awards (held in January 2024), recognizes the “finest in cinematic and television achievement.”  Lakeshore Records partners won 9 awards across 4 documentaries, which include wins from Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie, The Deepest Breath, Being Mary Tyler Moore, and the upcoming The Last Repair Shop.  The Deepest Breath (Nainita Desai) and The Last Repair Shop (Katya Richardson & Kris Bowers) also received a Best Score nomination in addition to the wins.  View all the wins below.

2023 HMMA Award Nominations Announced: Kris Bowers, John Carney, Gary Clark, John Powell and More Are Honored

The 2023 Hollywood Music in Media Awards (HMMA) nominations have been announced!  Leading the list includes John Carney and Gary Clark’s song, “High Life” with two song nominations!  Performed by Eve Hewson, Orén Kinlan, Jack Reynor, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt from Flora and Son (Apple Original Film), the upbeat song is quite a spotlight.  The soundtrack released by Lakeshore Records is one of a total of 9 nominations this year for the label.  View the full list online at HMMAwards.com.  Congratulations to all nominees this year!

GRAMMYs 2022: Kris Bowers Secures Best Score Nomination For Bridgerton!

Congratulations go out to Kris Bowers on his Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media GRAMMY nomination for Bridgerton, the Shondaland/Netflix hit series!  This is his first Best Score GRAMMY nomination.  Previously, Kris also earned a GRAMMY nom for Best Arrangement in 2020 for “Blue Skies.”
