With dialogue almost as snappy and effervescent as the jazzy score, Trumbo and crew subvert and foil the enemy. The mix of drama and humor works well here and comedic backgrounds of many of Trumbo’s stars becomes an incredible asset, adding almost perfect timing to many a line-reading. – Consequence of Sound

Trumbo is timely in its portrayal of a moment when political speech is dangerously charged, yet unabashedly old-fashioned in the sincerity of its storytelling. – Los Angeles Times

The Infiltrator: Composer Chris Hajian On Scoring A Modern ’80s Era Synth Score | The Ultimate Rabbit

I couldn’t help but expect a film score that was inspired by Jan Hammer’s music from “Miami Vice” or a variety of electronic scores that were very popular at the time. But the film’s composer, Chris Hajian, ended up creating something much more modern, and it acts as Robert’s conscience as he sinks deeper into a world of crime he may not get out of alive. – The Ultimate Rabbit

Composer Chris Hajian talks to The Ultimate Rabbit about his modern take on an ’80s-era synth score for The Infiltrator, directed by The Lincoln Lawyer‘s Brad Furman.  Based on a true story, the film takes place in the 1980s, as Bob Mazur (Bryan Cranston) goes undercover to take down Pablo Escobar’s Medellín cartel.  Read the full interview here.

If you’re a fan of Bryan Cranston in his acclaimed role in TV’s “Breaking Bad”, then don’t miss The Infiltrator, as he plays someone on the right side of the law!

He builds actual string arrangements (not synthetic) into the mix. It’s a daring piece of composition for the synth heavy piece and lends an organic, human layer to the darkness… Hajian’s music throbs and pumps and washes its way through waves of synths and beats, but never loses sight of that humanity.” – Cut Print Film
