Free Music Fridays: Kris Bowers’ Critically-Acclaimed ‘When They See Us’ Score

Ava Duvernay’s When They See Us Limited Series on Netflix is one of the most awarded shows of 2019, winning 23 awards including two EMMYs®, a Critic’s Choice, and the recent Peabody Awards® win!  For Composer Kris Bowers, he won Best Original Score at the Hollywood Music In Media Awards and received an EMMY®, Black Reel, and Society of Composers & Lyricists award nominations for his composition.  In the same year, Kris was nonimated Television Composer of the Year at the World Soundtrack Awards!

Kris Bowers’ EMMY-Nominated When They See Us Score Debuts Digitally on August 9

Ava DuVernay’s When They See Us four-episode mini-series on Netflix scored 16 EMMY® nominations, including Outstanding Limited Series and Outstanding Music Composition For A Limited Series (Original Dramatic Score) for composer Kris Bowers, the most nominations received for the streaming platform this year!   Lakeshore Records will release When They See Us -Original Music From The Netflix Limited Series digitally on Friday, August 9.  Stay tuned for more album details!  More about the film below.

Lakeshore Records will release the soundtrack to Sleight, starring Jacob Latimer, Seychelle Gabriel, Dulé Hill, Sasheer Zamata, and Storm Reid.  The album features the debut score by Charles Scott IV, who serves as in-house music supervisor/producer/songwriter at Bad Robot Productions.  

From the producer of Get Out comes a new kind of superhero.  Directed of J.D. Dillard, Sleight movie is “The First Great Black Superhero Movie.” (The Daily Beast)

‘Sleight’ Soundtrack: Charles Scott IV’s Debut Score To New Superhero Origins Film – Drops On April 28!
