Lakeshore Records congratulates soundtrack partner Marriage Story on the Academy Award^® win for Best Supporting Actress (Laura Dern)! The critically-acclaimed Noah Baumbach film (The Meyerowitz Stories, The Squid and the Whale) has won 115 awards including Golden Globes, BAFTA, Film Independent Spirit (aka Indie Spirit Awards), the Gotham Awards, and received 222 nominations. Additional highlights include AFI naming Marriage Story the Movie of the Year and the Indie Spirit Awards bestowed the Robert Altman Award, presented to the ensemble cast, director and casting director of a film.

For the film’s composer, Randy Newman, 22-time Academy Award Nominee and 2-time Oscar Winner, he was named Composer of the Year at the Hollywood Film Awards. In addition to his Academy Award Best Score nomination, he won Best Score at the New York Film Critics Association and dozens of nominations from the Golden Globes, the Broadcast Film Critics Association, Hollywood Music In Media Awards and more. The four films have earned a combined 9 nominations, including Best Picture and Best Original Score (Randy Newman) nominations for Marriage Story; Best Documentary Feature for American Factory; and Best Animated Feature for I Lost My Body and Missing Link! Check out this new interview now at Billboard, in which legendary composer Randy Newman shares the challenges of setting the tone for the score to Marriage Story.

This didn’t scare me; I knew I could do it, but it’s the first thing you hear and it is important. I was worried about, “Should this be an oboe or a flute?” Things you usually worry about.
