Digital New Releases:

IMPULSE – [Download/Listen]
Score by Deru.

Benjamin Wynn (aka Deru) blurs the lines between acoustic and electronic sounds in his score to Impulse, the hit series now streaming on YouTube Premium.  Already renewed for a second season, the Doug Simon created sci-fi series (The Bourne Identity, Edge of Tomorrow) is now 100% on Rotten Tomatoes!

THE GIRL WITH THE WHITE ORCHID – [Download/Listen]
Music by Deadly Avenger.

Damon Baxter (aka Deadly Avenger) brings us the cinematic sounds of a would-be soundtrack to an imaginary neon-noir film.  Deadly Avenger takes us on a synth journey which elicits imagery drawn from influences such as It Follows and Blade Runner.  Artwork by collaborator Luke Insect.

New on Bandcamp:

MOONLIGHT
Score by Nicholas Britell.

Nicholas Britell’s score to the 2017 Best Picture Oscar Winner, Moonlight, comes to Bandcamp for the very first time!  The Academy Award-nominated score to this film bears the distinction of being the first LGBTQ film to have ever earn an Oscar, and the film’s Mahershala Ali’s Oscar win was a milestone in The Academy’s history: he was the fifth black performer to win the Best Supporting Actor title, and the first Muslim (ScreenCrush).

THE HANDMAID’S TALE
Score by Adam Taylor.

The EMMY- and Peabody Award-winning hit series The Handmaid’s Tale on Hulu features score by Adam Taylor and a collaboration with series Producer Reed Morano and series star and Producer Elisabeth Moss.  Taylor spoke of bringing the humanity to the characters through the score, in this dystopian series based on Margaret Atwood’s novel of the same name.

“Score is so integral to any project,” she explains. “The best composers know how to elevate but not distract, and the best scores match the emotions of the scene. That’s what Adam does. He finds the heart of a scene and illuminates that. The music becomes an extension of the performance.” – Elisabeth Moss (Variety).

THE MEYEROWITZ STORIES
Score by Randy Newman.

Imagine if you had the legendary Randy Newman play piano to your film, with pretty much no edits needed.  That’s precisely what happened for The Meyerowitz Stories, directed by Noah Baumbach.  Newman’s all-piano score “is almost like a narrator in some way, another personality,” said Baumbach.

BRIGSBY BEAR
Score by David Wingo.

The endearing Brigsby Bear film, which earned great buzz from Sundance, features score by David Wingo, a long time collaborator on the films of David Gordon Green and Jeff Nichols.  You may also recognize his name as he is also a frequent collaborator of the band Explosions in the Sky. “The composer… brings his great touch to this charming indie.” (The Playlist)

SHANGHAI
Music by College.

A departure from his previous throbbing synth tracks like “A Real Hero (feat. Electric Youth)” from the Drive soundtrack, Shanghai signals a new direction for College with exploration of sounds in this dreamy homage to a 1920s Shanghai through melancholic melodies.

The single, “Love Peas,” is less ambient and differs greatly from the other tracks on this album. It’s luscious and lachrymose, truly beautiful in it’s own right. – Andrew Zistler, NewRetroWave
