Andy McCluskey (OMD), Rob Kroehler (Ladylike), Jack Antonoff (fun.) And Andrew Dost (fun.) Make A Formidable Synthpop Group For ‘The D Train’
Filled with nuggets of drippy ’80s-inspired synth and plenty of mystery, the soundtrack seems to be just the beginning of Dost’s career in composing. –Music Times
Available now digitally via Lakeshore Records is The D Train (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), featuring a synth-driven score by Andrew Dost of the GRAMMY®-winning band, fun., and music by various artists curated by Randall Poster, the music supervisor on Academy Award®-winning films Boyhood and The Grand Budapest Hotel! Watch the new lyric video for “A Million Stars,” the end title song from The D Train (see video below). Starring Jack Black (Bernie, Nacho Libre) and James Marsden (Unfinished Business, X-Men: Days of Future Past), The D Train makes its theatrical premiere on May 8!
Andrew Dost’s Score Captures The Themes Of Turmoil, Angst And Nostalgia In ‘The D Train’
Andy McCluskey (OMD), Rob Kroehler (Ladylike), Jack Antonoff (fun.) and Andrew Dost (fun.) have formed a formidable pop collective for “A Million Stars”, a tune drenched in ‘80s sheen, which features on the soundtrack to the Jack Black and James Marsden comedy The D Train. McCluskey, Antonoff, and Dost harmonize together splendidly, no doubt due in part to the latter two’s proclivity for harmonized vocals in the music of fun. Above all else, though, it’s the stylistics of OMD that shine through most resoundingly on “A Million Stars”; both the chorus and the synths used throughout the tune are highly reminiscent of OMD’s most recent LP, 2013’s English Electric (which we here at PopMatters are big fans of). –PopMatters
