Slow West: Composer Jed Kurzel Scores A New Role, Film Now On VOD

John Maclean and Jed Kurzel’s Collaboration Makes The Old West New Again

The new Western starring Michael Fassbender, Kodi Smit-McPhee as a pair of unlikely companions traveling out West in each other’s company.   FIRST and foremost, this is a terrific Western and a fantastic feature film.   –Ain’t It Cool

If there’s one thing you will learn about composer Jed Kurzel, whose latest score on Slow West — which just about makes anybody fall in love with the western genre all over again —  is that you don’t want to put him in a box.  As a musician-turned-composer, his next role will be that of a director in Ivan Lendl Never Learnt To Volley, with brother Justin Kurzel (Macbeth) producing!  The comedy is based on the brothers’ own childhood as state-level tennis players.  Director John Maclean, a musician-turned director (formerly of The Beta Band), collaborated with Kurzel to produce the “stripped down, and lyrical score.”  Check out the score available now on Slow West (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) via Lakeshore Records.  Slow West is now playing in theaters and on VOD (rent it on iTunes)!  View film stills and get a taste of the “Old West” from the audio preview below.
