Little Miss Sunshine (rent it on iTunes) is about a dysfunctional family who races across the country in a VW bus to get their little girl (Abigail Breslin) into a beauty pageant finals.  The film won two Academy Awards® including Best Supporting Actor for Alan Arkin.  The soundtrack featuring music by Mychael Danna and DeVotchKa received a Grammy nomination.
