BAFTA 2022: Being The Ricardos, The Power of the Dog Receive Best Score Nominations + More Announced!

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards nominations are in!  Some of the season’s most buzzed-about scores such as Daniel Pemberton’s Being The Ricardos (Amazon Studios) and Jonny Greenwood’s The Power of the Dog (Netflix) have received Best Original Score nominations!  The Power of the Dog also scored eight nominations overall including Best Film and Best Director (Jane Campion).  Being The Ricardos nabs three nominations overall including Best Original Screenplay and Best Adapted Screenplay. 

Also worth noting is Rebecca Hall’s Passing (Netflix), which garnered four nominations including Outstanding British Film, Outstanding Debut By A British Writer, Director Or Producer; and Swan Song (Apple TV+), which earned a Best Leading Actor nomination for the much-buzzed-about performance by Academy Award-winning Actor Mahershala Ali (Moonlight).  See the breakdown below.

Swan Song: Score By Jay Wadley Releases Digitally, Critically Acclaimed Apple Original Film Now Playing In Theaters & On Apple TV+!

Cleary and Wadley’s approach considered Cameron’s inner turmoil …  He also used a small chamber string orchestra that gave the score nuance and warmth.  – Variety

Lakeshore Records has released Swan Song—Soundtrack from the Apple Original Film featuring music by Jay Wadley (I’m Thinking of Ending Things).  The score to the highly-anticipated Apple Original Film starring two-time Academy Award® winner Mahershala Ali (Moonlight, Green Book) is available now digitally on all major music services such as Apple Music and iTunes.  View the full album details below.

Wadley incorporated harmonic changes to reflect the tensions that are rising in him. The sound is an unsettling, almost unnerving one. – Variety

The Apple Original Film premieres in theaters and globally on Apple TV+ today, December 17.

Golden Globes 2022: The Power of the Dog Secures Best Score Nomination, Being The Ricardos + More Lead The Pack!

Congratulations go out to team The Power of the Dog (Netflix), leading with seven Golden Globe® Award nominations including Best Score (Jonny Greenwood), Best Motion Picture, and Best Director (Jane Campion)!  The soundtrack is released by Lakeshore Records.

Swan Song: Join Composer Jay Wadley For The SCL Screening and Live Stream Q&A!

Join Composer Jay Wadley (I’m Thinking of Endings Things, “Tales of the City”, Adam) and The Society of Composers & Lyricists (The SCL) for the screening and live stream Q&A session for his score to Swan Song, the forth-coming highly-anticipated Apple Original Film starring two-time Academy Award® Winner Mahershala Ali (Moonlight, Green Book), Academy Award® Nominee Naomie Harris (Moonlight), and eight-time Academy Award® Nominee Glenn Close (Hillbilly Elegy, Dangerous Liaisons, Fatal Attraction). 

Moderated by Jon Burlingame (Variety), the screening will take place on Monday, December 13 (1 PM PST), followed by a YouTube Live Stream Q&A.  The screening link is available upon registration.  Register at The SCL online.
