Throwback Thursday: Revisiting Bear McCreary’s ‘Revolt’ Scifi Score

In this edition of Throwback Thursday, we take a look at Bear McCreary’s score to Revolt, directed by Joe Miale.  The scifi film starring Lee Pace and Berenice Marlohe was the perfect vehicle for Bear to collaborate and experiment with the director on creating a unique soundscape.  Check out the behind-the-scenes video below which offer more detail about the making of the score to this all-out battle between humans and machine.

This track is one of the earliest pieces that McCreary wrote for the show, and he said it presented the first opportunity for him to “establish a musical language for scoring action” on The Walking Dead. It’s an energetic piece that starts light and airy but suddenly dips in and out of a thundering, frenetic bass line. – Clara Mae, Nerdist
