Lynne Ramsay’s You Were Never Really Here film opens in theaters today! Starring Joaquin Phoenix in one of his most memorable roles yet as a traumatized veteran, the film has received heaps of praise from critics and film goers alike since its debut at Cannes last year (the film won Best Screenplay, Best Actor, and was nominated for the Palme D’Or).
In celebration of the film’s theatrical release, Amazon Studios has put together an immersive exhibit showcasing Director Lynne Ramsay’s vision for the film, at the Taschen Gallery in Los Angeles (get directions). Open now through Sunday night (check gallery for hours), don’t miss this exhibit featuring art submissions, props, stage sets and more. Jonny Greenwood’sfilm score also plays throughout the exhibit!
Jonny Greenwood’s exceptional score is as surprising as Ramsay’s film. It is as calmly brutal as Phoenix’s dead-eyed shuffle, and as tender as the way Joe clasps the hand of the dying man he has just dispatched with a bullet to the gut. – Pitchfork
‘You Were Never Really Here’ sees the composer and Radiohead member become more eclectic in his style with cues all varying in tone and instrumentation which will surely make this one of the most revered soundtracks of 2018. – Simon Tucker, Louder Than War
