So if Brian Tyler is the new Jerry Goldsmith and Michael Giacchino is the heir of John Williams, can I dream about Rob Simonsen someday taking over the emotional scepter form James Newton Howard? 10 years from now we will be regarding this composition as a classic. Lakeshore Records will release The Age Of Adaline (Original Motion Picture Score) — available digitally on April 21 and on CD on May 19. The album features the score by Rob Simonsen (The Foxcatcher, The Spectacular Now). Also featured is the end title song, “Start Again” co-written by Faux Fix (Katie Chastain and Nathan Johnson), with vocals by Elena Tonra. The album is available now on pre-order. It’s a lot of talent on one track, and the result is something stirring and beautiful, well befitting the film’s complicated themes of love and time. Pulsing synths lend an ethereal tone that is tethered gently by slow-drawn strings. Tonra’s voice rings clear and slightly sad as she entreats a lover, “Speak slowly/ Savor every word/ So we won’t forget that time/ Won’t wait for no one.” She reaches new heights on the words of the title as triumphant drums beat upward in an arc of hope. –Consequence of Sound

Lakeshore Records is excited to release the new single, “Start Again” — the end title song from The Age Of Adaline — written by Composer Rob Simonsen and Faux Fix (Katie Chastain and Nathan Johnson), featuring vocals by Elena Tonra. The Age Of Adaline, starring Blake Lively, Michiel Huisman, Kathy Baker with Harrison Ford and Ellen Burstyn — opens in theaters on Friday, April 24. The full score album releases on April 21. Lakeshore Records Pick Of The Week: ‘Brick’ Soundtrack

Lakeshore Records has a tremendous catalog of soundtracks and artists albums, but have you heard them all? We dedicate this week to our first selection: Brick, scored by China Kent and Nathan Johnson. This film stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Lukas Haas and Emilie de Ravin in a stylistic Noir thriller centered around a High School murder mystery (watch Brick on YouTube). Just listen to the dialogue!

Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays Brendan, an outcast who seeks to solve the mystery behind the murder of his ex-girlfriend, who left him cryptic clues before her demise. The soundtrack takes you through the decades via a retro track (thanks to Bunny Berigan), a track by The Velvet Underground, and classically high-pitched and leading instrumentals which only heighten any fears you may be accumulating during key moments of the film.
