Lyle Workman-Scored ‘Love’ on Netflix Series Returns March 10, ‘Superbad’ Score Celebrates 10 Years This Summer!

Can you believe it’s been almost 10 years since the coming-of-age comedy Superbad hit theaters?  Brought to us by the producer of Knocked Up and The 40-Year-Old Virgin, this laugh out loud comedy is an “iconic comedy…a true classic of its times” (Pete Hammond, Maxim).  Originally premiering in theaters on August 17, 2007, the film is scored by Lyle Workman (Standup Guys, The 40-Year-Old Virgin), whose recent work on Netflix’s popular Love series (Season 2 premieres March 10) reminds us that, damn, Lyle really knows how to bring the funk!

Superbad (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) features a mix of Lyle Workman songs written for the film, performed by James Brown’s backing band with Bootsy Collins of Parliament, and killer tracks from The Roots, Sergio Mendes & Brasil 66, Rick James, The Bar-Keys and more.  The vinyl is limited to 2,000 on double vinyl, three sides of music, and one side a stunning screen print!  Watch the interview below for more on this classic album, out now on Lakeshore Records.  The Superbad movie is available now on VOD (rent it on iTunes) and Blu-ray/DVD (get it here).  More on his work for Love on Netflix below.

One of the defining elements of Netflix’s new dramedy/romantic comedy series Love, which debuted on the streaming service February 19, is the music. Not only that played by star and co-creator Paul Rust’s character in the show, but the original score written by Lyle Workman. – Deadline

 

Get your hands on some more Love!  Lyle Workman’s score for the popular Netflix Original Series is now available on CD (get it here)!  In case you haven’t streamed the entire series (we won’t provide any spoilers), we think you’ll dig the Los Angeles vibe in which Lyle injected to the overall score.
