‘Effie Gray’ Producer Donald Rosenfeld Talks Working With Dakota Fanning And What It Takes To Make A Movie

Effie Gray Producer Donald Rosenfeld recently spoke to Huffington Post about what it took for him to make a film.  As president of Merchant Ivory Productions for over 10 years, Rosenfeld was responsible for producing critically-acclaimed and award-winning films such as Howards End, Remains of the Day, and The Tree of Life.  He speaks of being hands-on, selecting who works on his films, including composer Paul Cantelon and Dakota Fanning, whom he said, “She’s like Paul Newman who I worked with on Mr. and Mrs. Bridge. They embrace the luck of their life as opposed to resting on their laurels… She’s like a great Hollywood star from the Garbo era.”  Read the full interview at Huffington Post.

It’s an intimate and deep score and you don’t get a furious string cue like “Cadenza” every day. That one alone is worth the price of the score. Welcome once again Lorne Balfe inside your soul. He keeps coming with different stories covering the entire range of feelings you could think of and this is why he is one of my favorite composers. Just keep them coming, Lorne… –Soundtrack Dreams
