There’s something about the sweeping chime of a flute or the quiet beat of a bodhrans that makes me dream. Oh and the violin, forgot about that. Michael Brooke[sic] makes use of that wonderful instrument in the heartfelt opening moments of the score. The music has my attention from the get go because of this quiet and almost mournful tone which almost makes me think of Nick Cave and Warren Ellis’ music. – Soundtrack Dreams

Variety Names Michael Brook, Theodore Shapiro And Carter Burwell On The Short List Of 2015’s Best Scores!

Variety has just published its first look at potential best score
nominees for this years Academy Awards®. Listed in the Top 10 selects is
Michael Brook’s score to Brooklyn. Other contenders include Trumbo by
Theodore Shapiro and Mr. Holmes by Carter Burwell. Two other scores by
Carter have also made the list: Carol and Legend. Read the full list at Variety.

‘BROOKLYN’ Composer Michael Brook On His Score For ‘Into The Wild’

In 2007, BROOKLYN composer Michael Brook received a Golden Globe® nomination for his score to Into The Wild (released by Lakeshore Records). The film went on to earn two Academy Award® nominations plus numerous others. Lakeshore Records sat down with Michael Brook then to discuss his work for Into The Wild, and you can hear it below. If you haven’t seen the film yet, you can watch it On Demand on iTunes.

This year Michael Brook composed the score to the critically acclaimed Sundance Film BROOKLYN which will also screen at The Toronto Film Festival on September 13th. The album will be released on Lakeshore Records later this fall. Stay tuned for more details on this extraordinary film and score.

Lakeshore Records will release the soundtrack to BROOKLYN, starring Saoirse Ronan (How I Live Now), Domhnall Gleeson (Ex Machina), Emory Cohen (Place Beyond The Pines), with Jim Broadbent (Cloud Atlas) and Julie Walters (Effie Gray). BROOKLYN made its premiere at Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and is an “Official Selection” at the Toronto International Film Festival. The album features score by Golden Globe® Nominee Michael Brook (Into the Wild).

Directed by award-winning filmmaker John Crowley (Boy A, Intermission), BROOKLYN opens in theaters on Friday, November 6 via Fox Searchlight Pictures. Read further for more on the film. More soundtrack details are forthcoming.
