The score follows a young man from a well-to-do family, Christopher McCandless (Emile Hirsch), who, in April 1992, hitchhiked to Alaska and walked alone into the wilderness north of Mt. McKinley. He had given $25,000 in savings to charity, abandoned his car and most of his possessions, burned all the cash in his wallet, and invented a new life for himself (Amazon).
Into The Wild film, writer/director Sean Penn’s screen adaptation of the best-selling novel by the same name, received two Academy Award® nominations for Best Performance by An Actor In A Supporting Role (Hal Holbrook) and Best Achievement In Film Editing (Jay Cassidy).
