In 2008, Lakeshore Records sat down with composer Carter Burwell, who spoke about scoring the Academy Award® nominated In Brugesfilm. He said Bruges, Belgium, is very much a character in this surreal comedy and his approach is to “bring something that isn’t there in the film already.” Listen to the interview below.
Carter’s next album out on Lakeshore Records is The Family Fang (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), out on April 29 (pre-order here).
Starring Colin Farrell (who won a Golden Globe® for his role), Brendan Gleeson and Academy Award nominee Ralph Fiennes, the acclaimed film went on to garner over 20 other film awards and over 50 nominations.

Based on a short story by Edgar Allan Poe, the chilling tale directed by Brad Anderson co-stars Ben Kingsley (Shutter Island, Elegy), Michael Caine (The Dark Knight, The Prestige), Brendan Gleeson (Gangs of New York, In Bruges) and David Thewlis (The Fifth Estate, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2).
Brad Anderson is such a brilliant director and great collaborator. We spoke at length about the type of score that he wanted, which was a ‘rich, thematic and classic sounding score,'” said Debney. “The love theme had to be a bit sad yet utterly and unapologetically romantic and sweeping,” for example. –HorrorTalk.com
