Trumbo Soundtrack Is Out Now On Lakeshore Records! Download Here: [iTunes]

Shapiro is certainly one of the more eclectic and individual musical voices in Hollywood and his score for Trumbo is a good example of his capabilities. There are elements of the period mixed in with some audacious modern ingredients, including one of my favorite sounds in all of music, the prepared piano (he explains what that is in the video). – Score Keeper, Birth.Death.Movies

With dialogue almost as snappy and effervescent as the jazzy score, Trumbo and crew subvert and foil the enemy. The mix of drama and humor works well here and comedic backgrounds of many of Trumbo’s stars becomes an incredible asset, adding almost perfect timing to many a line-reading. – Consequence of Sound

Trumbo: Theodore Shapiro Score ‘His Best One Yet’ | Soundtrack Geek

I’ve never heard Shapiro quite like this… This for me though is his best one yet. What I haven’t mentioned yet is that Trumbo has a very nice theme that can be heard in a few cues, most notably the prison cues… Minimalism, jazz, emotional. It’s all here, setting up this fine drama with some interesting and thought provoking music. – Soundtrack Geek

Lakeshore Records is very pleased to be releasing Trumbo (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) on November 6.  The album features score by Theodore Shapiro (St. Vincent, Infinitely Polar Bear, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty).  The score was recently named on Variety’s short list of best scores for 2015!

The successful career of 1940s screenwriter Dalton Trumbo (Bryan Cranston) comes to a crushing end when he and other Hollywood figures are blacklisted for their political beliefs. TRUMBO (directed by Jay Roach) tells the story of his fight against the U.S. government and studio bosses in a war over words and freedom, which entangled everyone in Hollywood from Hedda Hopper (Helen Mirren) and John Wayne to Kirk Douglas and Otto Preminger.

Bleecker Street presents Trumbo, in select theaters on November 6.
