Lakeshore Records is pleased to dedicate this week’s Free Music Fridays to Alexei Aigui’s score to the groundbreaking documentary, I Am Not Your Negro!  If you never got a chance to watch the film drawn from James Baldwin’s unfinished manuscript, Remember This House,  then this might be the most relevant time ever.  The Academy Award®-nominated film directed by Raoul Peck picked up numerous awards including the Best News & Documentary EMMY®, a BAFTA and Berlinale Best Documentary win, and the Best Documentary César.

In this edition of Throwback Thursday, we pay tribute to James Baldwin, novelist, playwright, and social critic. We take a look at I Am Not Your Negro, Academy Award®-nominated documentary based on his unfinished novel, Remember This House. The film features score by award-winning composer Alexei Aigui.

James Baldwin is also known for the novel, If Beale Street Could Talk, now an Academy Award®-nominated film.

Lakeshore Will Release Alexei Aigui’s Score To Academy Award® Nominated ‘I Am Not Your Negro’ Film

Lakeshore Records will release the soundtrack to the Academy Award®-nominated film, I Am Not Your Negro, coming soon digitally.  The album features score by award-winning composer Alex Aigui (The Horde). Stay tuned for more details! 

The critically acclaimed documentary debuted at Toronto International Film Festival and in addition to the Oscar nomination, the film is an Indie Spirit Awards Nominee.
