Hannibal A Day S1:Ep2 – Amuse-Bouche, + Vinyl News!

Here’s another morsel for all you NBC Hannibal Fannibals: the score for episode 2 of Season 1 quickly jumps to an electronic sound as compared to episode 1’s classical-sounding score, “Aperitif.”  Whatever your preference, Brian Reitzell has a firm grip on the psyche of this series and the growing captive audience can’t seem to get enough of this show!  And, for all those fans searching high and low for the Hannibal soundtrack in vinyl, our partners at Invada Records in the UK will be offering them for overseas music lovers.  They’re going to be a great collector’s item.  More vinyls news to come!

Song One: Film Ft. Songs Written By Jenny Lewis and Johnathan Rice, Performances By Felice Brothers & More – Soundtrack Coming Soon!

Flynn, who’s an actor and musician, imbues James with the soulfulness of an artist, performing the character’s songs (written by indie songwriters Jenny Lewis and Johnathan Rice) with a simplicity that doesn’t try to oversell James’s talent. What could have been a mopey, self-obsessed portrait of a flash in the pan is instead a genuine portrayal of a floundering musician who fears that his peak is already behind him, no matter how many teen girls still think he’s a dreamy poet.
-Tim Grierson, Paste Magazine

Lakeshore Records is pleased to release the soundtrack to Song One, featuring original songs written by Jenny Lewis and Johnathan Rice, performed by Johnny Flynn.

Additional on screen performances are Felice Brothers, Sharon Van Etten, Dan Deacon, Naomi Shelton and more, coming soon!  Song One, starring Anne Hathaway, debuted at Sundance this year, and will show at film festivals this month.  Stay tuned for more soundtrack details.

SONG ONE stars Anne Hathaway, Mary Steenburgen and Johnny Flynn.  Directed by Kate Barker-Froyland, the film is produced by Marc Platt, Jonathan Demme (Rachel Getting Married), Anne Hathaway, Adam Shulman, Christopher Woodrow and Molly Conners.  Anne Hathaway plays “Franny,” an archaeologist who returns home to see her brother who is seriously injured in a car accident.  Although she disapproved of her brother dropping out of school to become a full-time musician, she digs for ways to connect with her estranged brother, including seeking out his favorite indie musician, “James Forester,” played by Johnny Flynn (of Johnny Flynn & The Sussex Wit).

Danny Bensi and Saunder Jurriaans, recently placed amongst On The Rise 2014: 12 Film Composers To Watch, are multi-instrumentalists and classically trained musicians. Bensi is an internationally raised cellist and composer, while the mostly self-taught Jurriaans (“I had a few classical guitar lessons”) dropped out of the Rhode Island School of Design and, after playing with a few pick-up bands and working some graphic construction jobs, reconnected with high school friend Bensi, with whom he formed the acclaimed
rock band Priestbird. The band spent about six years recording (they have released five albums) and touring, evolving what can only be described as the ‘dramatic, cinematic’ blend of music to which both Bensi and Jurriaans are naturally attracted. By 2010, Priestbird had run its course, but the pair continued to hone their skills.
