New Music: ‘Goodbye Baby’ Performed By Mary Steenburgen and Written By Composer David Schwartz From ‘A Man On The Inside, Season 2’
From the second season of A Man On The Inside, Lakeshore Records releases “Goodbye Baby,” performed by Mary Steenburgen with music by the series’ composer David Schwartz. Listen to the new song featured in episode 207 of the series, below! The supporting band includes Lucy Schwartz on backup vocals, Troy Verges on guitar, David Schwartz on bass and background vocals, George Doering on sitar and guitar, Zac Rae on piano and B3 organ, and Jake Reed on drums.
Where to find the song in the show: The moment centers on Mona Margadoff (Steenburgen), the music professor. In this episode, she performs “Goodbye Baby” on-screen — presented as her old hit from her fictional band Lavender Highway.
Notes Steenburgen: “We had fun channeling 1970s bands as we created this song which was supposed to be my hit as a young singer in a band called Lavender Highway. Now sung ‘50 years later’ by me ( Mona Margadoff).”
Adds David Schwartz: “The song came together really naturally. We were all in the room writing together, and there was an easy creative flow from the start. Everyone brought something different to the process, and it made the whole experience feel collaborative and genuine.”
Created by Michael Schur and starring Ted Danson, Steenburgen, Mary Elizabeth Elllis, Lilah Richcreek Estrada and David Straithern, the series produced by Universal Television is streaming now on Netflix.
