We’re thrilled to share a cue from the action thriller Relay, starring Riz Ahmed, Lily James and Sam Worthington! Lakeshore Records will release Relay—Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally on Friday, August 22, with an original score by highly regarded Glasgow-based composer and producer Tony Doogan (Starred Up). Doogan, who has had an indelible hand in shaping the sound of bands such as Belle and Sebastian, Mogwai and Teenage Fanclub, has incorporated his own hand-picked musicians that enable him to create a multi-faceted atmospheric score that evokes the dread, paranoia and apprehension that permeates the high-tension thriller. Relay is in theaters now.  Listen to “Times Square” below.

Notes Doogan: “I have been a longtime collaborator with director David Mackenzie, having scored many of his feature films. The process has always been a creative partnership between us which begins early in the production process. Working collaboratively is important to the direction we both wish to take and allows total creative freedom. We discuss an overall concept and sonic palette, which in this case was to emphasize stress, tension, anxiety and paranoia. The next step is to make initial sketches together to outline the creative direction for the score. These early sketches are incorporated into the timeline of the film, giving me an embryonic road map for what is to come.”

ABOUT TONY DOOGAN
Tony Doogan is a Scottish composer, music producer, and audio engineer whose work has left a significant mark on film, television music and music in general.  Based in Glasgow, he co-founded the acclaimed Castle of Doom Studios with Mogwai, a creative hub that has produced internationally recognized scores, soundtracks and albums.  Doogan has become a frequent collaborator with director David Mackenzie, coscoring critically acclaimed projects such as Starred Up (2013) and Outlaw King (2018), and scoring the forthcoming thrillers Relay (2024) and Fuze (TBC).  His work is distinguished by a powerful fusion of atmospheric sound design and emotive instrumentation, earning praise for its ability to heighten both intimacy and intensity on screen.

In television, Doogan’s credits include production contributions to Mogwai’s score for season 2 (2015) of the lauded French supernatural drama Les Revenants, which gained worldwide recognition for its haunting original soundscape. He has also worked across a range of feature films, documentaries and drama series including score producer for Zidane (2006), Black Bird (2022), ZeroZeroZero (2109- 2020), Kin (2018) and The Bombing of Pan Am 103 (2025), consistently bringing a cinematic sensibility to every project.

Before his screen career, Doogan established himself as a leading record producer, shaping the sound of artists including Belle & Sebastian, Mogwai, The Delgados, and Teenage Fanclub. With a background that blends technical mastery and musical intuition, Tony Doogan continues to redefine the role of music in contemporary film and television storytelling.

In Relay, Riz Ahmed plays a world class “fixer” who specializes in brokering lucrative payoffs between corrupt corporations and the individuals who threaten their ruin. He keeps his identity a secret through meticulous planning and always follows an exacting set of rules. But when a message arrives one day from a potential client (Lily James), needing his protection just to stay alive, the rules quickly start to change.
