Joel and Ethan Coen’s ‘Burn After Reading At 15 Years

Burn After Reading enters its 15th year in the expansive filmography of Joel and Ethan Coen.  And, it’s hard to imagine a Coen Brothers film without a score by Carter Burwell!  Burn After Reading (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) was also released this month 15 years ago on Lakeshore Records (see below for listening links).  If you’ve yet to experience the dark comedy/spy movie that is Burn After Reading, you’ll also appreciate the treasure trove of an ensemble cast: George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Frances McDormand, John Malkovich, Tilda Swinton, Richard Jenkins, and J.K. Simmons–need we say more?  You’ll wonder how you missed this gem of a film.  Take a stroll down memory lane now on Max.com.

“Riotously funny and terrifically well-wrought, a unique genre hybrid in which all the pieces fit perfectly.” – The Atlantic

“After the portentous ‘No Country for Old Men,’ Joel and Ethan Coen return to their trademark brand of cruel, misanthropic farce, and for dark laughs and hurtling narrative momentum this spy caper is their best work since “Fargo.” – Chicago Reader

“That’s the paradox that makes this parade of folly so much fun: it feels as if everyone involved is having a high old time, and their enthusiasm is contagious.” – Newsweek
