Throwback Thursday: Revisiting ‘War Machine’ Director David Michôd’s ‘The Rover’ Film

Lakeshore Records: The Rover (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) Music By Antony Partos

One element that will stick with people is a score which, as composed by Antony Partos and performed by Sam Petty, stands apart. Avoiding the bombast that’s so common in any modern picture even remotely driven by action, its rather a collection soundscapes that capture those barren, desolate feelings which are key to the film’s Australian outback setting.

On the eve of Netflix’s War Machine premiere, Lakeshore Records revisits David Michôd’s previous film, the powerful drama, The Rover, starring Robert Pattinson (The Twilight Saga, Remember Me), Guy Pearce (Memento, The Hurt Locker) and Scoot McNairy (AMC’s “Halt And Catch Fire”).  The album features an original score by award-winning Composer Antony Partos (Days of Grace, Adore), with additional music by Sam Petty.  David Michôd is one of Australia’s most celebrated filmmakers, winning Best Film at the Sydney Film Festival and Best Film at AACTA (Australia’s Oscars) for The Rover.  To read up on War Machine, see our latest update, here.

Throwback Thursday: ‘Uncle John’ – The David Lynch-Approved Suspense Thriller

uncle-john_BlogPost_600x300

“I have to say that the minimalist droning score, courtesy of composers Adam Robl and Shawn Sutta, is both inspiring and a key element to this film,” -Marcus Pinn,  CutPrintFilm.com

I like experimental. I like dark. I like this score. – Soundtrack Dreams

In this latest edition of Throwback Thursday, we take a look at Steven Piet’s David Lynch-approved Uncle John film.  If The Dark Knight were retired in the form of a somewhat sinister Uncle John, then John Ashton may have just nailed it.  The film features score by Adam Robl & Shawn Sutta (And The Wind Falls, Our Longest Drive), and you can preview or stream it below, out  now on Lakeshore Records.

Uncle John film is available now on Digital (rent it on iTunes).

Tantalizing, sublimely creepy and keeps you guessing even after the credits roll. –New York Times

Thanks to Ashton’s brilliant, career-defining performance, we’re made to see that the only thing worse than doing evil deeds is being nice enough to feel guilty about them. -Chuck Wilson, Village Voice
