Street Corner Felines

Street corner felines
Street corner felines

Felines like to strut
Canines like to hunt
All animals seek companionship
Ladies walk the pavement
They’re looking for a fella who will pick them up tonight
Men in limousines eyeball these kittens
Nothing ever lights up this part of the city.
Some guys are friendly and some guys are very mean A girl learns the truth when the lights go off.

Street corner felines
Their hides are for sale every day and night.
Street corner felines
Live and die upon this avenue. (yes)

Red high heels and lipstick
A white blouse that’s cut so very low
Short skirts show off their fishnets
She’s got a lovely french manicure.
Underneath this clothing you can only imagine

(bg voices) Hey girl, where you goin’ to?
Oh-oh oh. Oh-oh oh
(bg voices) Look around you – come on.
(bg voices) There’s trouble everywhere.
(bg voices) Hey girl, where you goin to?
Oh-oh oh. Oh-oh oh
(bg voices) Be careful, baby.
Be careful.
Street corner felines.

Cindy ran away as a kid
Her father liked the bottle and throwing fists
For two years she sold herself as a woman (hustlin’)
She plied the trade on the avenue, but still she feels the hurt.

Last week Sally turned up dead
Strangled for a thrill and left in the gutter.
This savvy kitten had a gun in her purse
But she wasn’t quick enough
Look out, felines, this dog is still hungry.

(bg voices) Hey girl, where you goin’ to?
Oh-oh oh. Oh-oh oh
(bg voices) Look around you – come on.
(bg voices) There’s trouble everywhere. (what a shame)
(bg voices) Hey girl, where you goin to?
Oh-oh oh. Oh-oh oh
(bg voices) Be careful, baby.
Be careful.
Street corner felines. (oh, no no, no!)

Street corner felines
Their hides are for sale every day and night. (I see)
Street corner felines (just a little girl)
Live and die upon this avenue.
No, no, no no.
Street corner felines – look out, now!
Street corner felines – you better watch it, baby.
Street corner felines – you gotta be ready. It ain’t safe out here.
Street corner felines – it ain’t safe out here, no no.
Street corner felines – No, no, no now. It’s not too late to go legit.
Street corner felines – You’re better than this.
Street corner felines – Street corner felies, watch yourself.
Street corner felines – Watch yourself, watch yourself.
Street corner felines – No, no, no, no, no, no, no. (It ain’t safe out here.)
