Remembering Scott Walker: Influential Musician, Producer And Composer

“For half a century, the genius of the man born Noel Scott Engel has enriched the lives of thousands, first as one third of The Walker Brothers, and later as a solo artist, producer and composer of uncompromising originality.” (4AD)

Scott Walker, influential avant garde music icon, has passed away; he was 76. The news was announced by 4AD, the late musician’s label. One of The Walker Brothers’ most enduring hits, “The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine (Anymore)”, released in 1966, was a UK #1 hit single and a Billboard Hot 100 hit (#13) in the US. Musicians who were influenced by Walker include Radiohead’s Thom Yorke, Sunn O))) (a recent collaborator), Marc Almond, Echo and the Bunnymen and more paid tribute to him.

In 2009, Lakeshore Records released Scott Walker: 30 Century Man (Music Inspired By The Film), available now digitally on iTunes. The documentary about Scott Walker is also available on digital platforms such as iTunes Movies.
