Are our eyes deceiving us when we see that Oliver Coates’ Aftersun score–to one of the most critically acclaimed films of 2023–is the only soundtrack on GORILLA vs. BEAR’s Best Albums of 2023 list?  Why question the wisdom of GvB?  We are so thrilled to see Coates receive the recognition he deserves from one of our favorite music blogs.  In case you need a reminder, Aftersun (an A24 release) is an Academy Award-nominated and BAFTA-winning film in which Paul Mescal received his first Best Actor Oscar nomination (“Normal People”) and Director Charlotte Wells won the BAFTA for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer.  

Lakeshore Records and Invada Records released the soundtrack earlier this year.
