The D Train: Synth-Driven Score By Andrew Dost Available Now, ‘A Million Stars’ Single Lyric Video Premieres! (PopMatters), Reunite With Friends In Theaters On 5/8!

Andrew Dost’s Score Captures The Themes Of Turmoil, Angst And Nostalgia In ‘The D Train’

Andy McCluskey (OMD), Rob Kroehler (Ladylike), Jack Antonoff (fun.) and Andrew Dost (fun.) have formed a formidable pop collective for “A Million Stars”, a tune drenched in ‘80s sheen, which features on the soundtrack to the Jack Black and James Marsden comedy The D Train. McCluskey, Antonoff, and Dost harmonize together splendidly, no doubt due in part to the latter two’s proclivity for harmonized vocals in the music of fun. Above all else, though, it’s the stylistics of OMD that shine through most resoundingly on “A Million Stars”; both the chorus and the synths used throughout the tune are highly reminiscent of OMD’s most recent LP, 2013’s English Electric (which we here at PopMatters are big fans of). –PopMatters

Lakeshore Records is very pleased to release The D Train (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) featuring original score by Andrew Dost (of fun.) and the end title song, “A Million Stars” featuring vocals by Andy McCluskey of iconic English band, OMD.  Watch the official Lyric Video for “A Million Stars” — now premiering on PopMatters!  The The D Train album also features 1980s hits by various artists including Candlelight, Foreigner, INXS, OMD and more!  See full soundtrack details below.  The D Train starring Jack Black and James Marsden opens in select theaters on Friday, May 8!

‘The D Train’ Composer Andrew Dost And fun. Bandmate Jack Antonoff, Rob Kroehler (Of Ladylike) With Vocals By Andy McCluskey (Of OMD) Take Us Back To High School

In IFC Films’ The D Train, Jack Black plays a man obsessed with getting a popular, former classmate (James Marsden) to come home for their high school reunion. It’s only appropriate that the soundtrack for this dark comedy—which co-stars Kathryn Hahn and Jeffrey Tambor—should remind listeners of the scores for John Hughes’ classic high school movies.  –Under The Radar
