Congratulations Infinitely Polar Bear (Sony Pictures Classics) on its NAACP Image Award nominations!  The film received two nominations: “Outstanding Independent Motion Picture,” and “Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture” for Zoe Saldana.  Congrats to all the nominees!

The 47th NAACP Image Award will be held on Friday, February 5, 2016 and broadcast live 9/8c on TVOne.  Read the full list at Variety.

Set in the the late 1970s, the film conveys the decade thanks to the spot on costume design from Kasia Walicka-Maimone and a fantastic soundtrack featuring songs from George Harrison, Ike and Tina Tuner, and The Doc Watson Family. Pink Martini frontwoman China Forbes has written and recorded a song for a film, but not just any movie. Rather, her sister Maya wrote and directed the critically acclaimed new film Infinitely Polar Bear, starring Mark Rufallo and Zoe Saldana, which is based on the sisters’ life with their manic depressive father. The song itself is a sweet, gentle little tune, and Forbes was intent on making both the track and the accompanying video as personal as possible. –Popmatters
