This week, we revisit a classic Carter Burwell score in honor of his forthcoming score to Missing Link (out April 12), the new stop-motion film from LAIKA Studios, the folks who brought us Academy Award®-nominated Coraline and Kubo and the Two Strings.
Anomalisa (2015) earned an Academy Award® nomination for Best Animated Feature Film of the Year and a Golden Globe® for Best Animated Motion Picture. Carter’s score released on Lakeshore Records received the Annie Award nomination for Outstanding Achievement in Music and in 2016, he was chosen Composer of the Year at the World Soundtrack Awards! The song, “None of Them Are You” (music by Carter Burwell, lyrics by Charlie Kaufman, performed by Tom Noonan) won Best Original Song at the same awards. Listen below.
To celebrate the release of The Dragon Prince Season 1 and Season 2 soundtracks on February 22, we take a look at previous animated films and series scores released by Lakeshore Records! We kick it off with a previous animated series score by Frederik Wiedmann: All Hail King Julien! Frederik received an EMMY® win for the song, “Bromance” from the series! Carter Burwell‘s score to Golden Globe®– and Academy Award®-nominated Anomalisa is now available on vinyl through our partners Music On Vinyl.
Burwell’s score is a truly original listening experience, one that lets you relive the darkly comedic and wonderful film it accompanies.
Directed by Charlie Kaufman and Duke Johnson, Anomalisa was originally conceived as a one-act play over 10 years ago, when composer Carter Burwell approached The Coen Brothers and Charlie Kaufman with the idea of working on a non-film project.
