Scarlett Johansson Is A Recording Star

Scarlett Johansson is in the spotlight with her new movie, Captain America: Winter Soldier, but we really want to shine the light on her recording career. You may have heard her vocals in the Days of Grace soundtrack released by Lakeshore Records. Featured in the George Gershwin standard, “Summertime,” remixed by Robert Del Naja (of Massive Attack) and Tim Goldsworthy, Johansson’s vocals are ethereal and not to be missed. But, if by chance you haven’t heard it, we’ve got you covered.

The album also features a score by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis (“The Road”; “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford”), Academy Award-winner Atticus Ross (“The Social Network”; “The Book of Eli”) with Leopold Ross & Claudia Sarne, and Shigeru Umebayashi (The Grandmaster).

More to love: In the past two years, Johansson’s vocals have been associated with Oscar-nominated films such as Her in which she sings “Moon Song” (check out this acoustic version), and the Oscar-nominated climate documentary, Chasing Ice, in which she contributed her vocal talents to “Before My Time.” We have a very good hunch that we will be hearing a lot more from her.

The Grandmaster Composer Nathaniel Mechaly Sweeps Film Awards

Lakeshore Records congratulates The Grandmaster Composer Nathaniel Méchaly on his Best Score win yesterday at the prestigious Hong Kong Film Awards. This adds to Méchaly’s other win at the Asian Film Awards held in Macau on March 27. With fellow score composer Umebayashi Shigeru, the Oscar-nominated film swept both awards, garnering twelve wins in Hong Kong, and seven at the Asian Film Awards.

Mechaly, who also won an award at the BMI Film and TV Awards last year for his work in Taken 2 starring The Grey‘s Liam Neeson, is set to score the new French series for TF1, “Taxi: Brooklyn” produced by Eurcopacorp TV and the forthcoming Jean Becker film, “Bon Rétablissement!” starring Gérard Lanvin.

Tonight marks the debut of Mad Men‘s final season on AMC (check local listings). Lakeshore Records takes a look at the cast’s other acting appearances. You think you know everything about your favorite Mad Men series regulars? We uncovered seven movies which star some of your favorite Mad Men actors: Jon Hamm, Christina Hendricks, Jessica Paré, Jared Harris and Alison Brie.

Debuted in 2007, Mad Men is a period drama which takes place in the ’50s and ’60s. Not ones to spend their days sipping Martinis or filing their nails, these actors ventured out of their small-screen bubble. Die-hard Mad Men fans will find it delightful to see Jared Harris in a saucy movie or Christina Hendricks play a less than classy lady.

2 Jennifer Garner Must-Watch Interviews For ‘Draft Day’

Jennifer Garner fans: feast your eyes. Last night, she appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to talk about her new film, Draft Day, which opens in theaters this weekend. Garner plays a tough attorney who manages the salary cap for an NFL team. She insists it’s more than a film for sports enthusiasts. Co-stars Kevin Costner, Denis Leary, Sean Combs and Tom Welling round out the cast. Watch the video about the Draft Day interview at Huffington Post.
