“Roar” is an anthology series of darkly comic feminist fables. Spanning genres from magical realism to psychological horror, these eight stand-alone stories feature ordinary women in some pretty extraordinary circumstances. In “Roar,” women eat photographs, date ducks, live on shelves like trophies. And yet, their struggles are universal.
Says Waller-Bridge: “When I read Liz and Carly’s scripts I was instantly enthralled. The surrealist lens of the stories gives access to the rich, complex and joyful range of female identity. It’s not often you get to score that landscape in one series. I loved being able to embrace the scope of the protagonists in my music. I found there was a catharsis in scoring Roar – plus it was a trip! Liz and Carly are phenomenal creators and story tellers – it was an honour to work with them.”
