Blood Hive (Original Score From The Showtime Series Yellowjackets) Releases Digitally!

“The leaders of ’90s bands Shudder to Think and That Dog have gone spooky, to great end, with music that’s helped turn the Showtime series into a phenomenon.” – Variety

“If Shrill was the duo’s pop album and TheRepublic of Sarah a Radiohead-style art-drama, then Yellowjackets is their angsty goth record, with a side of the supernatural.” – Pitchfork

Lakeshore Records has released Blood Hive—Original Score from the Showtime Series, Yellowjackets featuring music by Craig Wedren, best known as the frontman for seminal post-hardcore band Shudder to Think, and Anna Waronker of indie pop darlings that dog., who scored most of the show’s episodes; and composer Theodore Shapiro who composed the music for the show’s pilot. The strikingly sinister score harkens back to the punk, grunge and garage scenes of the 90’s and provides a darkly ominous backdrop to the horror series. The album, which contains an extended version of the main title song “No Return,” is available now digitally on April 15 on all major digital music services.  View full album details below.

Notes Wedren and Waronker: “Making music for the first season of Yellowjackets was a rare gift. We were able to create something vicious, elegant and new that not only paired well with the show, but really connected with people. This is music we would be proud to share under any circumstances, and we’re super excited and grateful to unleash it in soundtrack form.”

Equal parts survival epic, psychological horror story and coming-of-age drama, YELLOWJACKETS is the saga of a team of wildly talented high school girls soccer players who become the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness. The series chronicles their descent from a complicated but thriving team to savage clans, while also tracking the lives they’ve attempted to piece back together nearly 25 years later, proving that the past is never really past and what began out in the wilderness is far from over.

Created and executive produced by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson (Narcos), the one-hour drama series, YELLOWJACKETS stars Melanie Lynskey (Castle Rock), Oscar and Emmy nominee Juliette Lewis (Camping), Emmy nominee Christina Ricci (Z: The Beginning of Everything) and Tawny Cypress (Unforgettable). Jonathan Lisco (Animal Kingdom, Halt and Catch Fire) joins Lyle and Nickerson as executive producer and showrunning partner. Produced for SHOWTIME by studio Entertainment One (eOne), Karyn Kusama (Destroyer, Girlfight) executive produces and directed the pilot. Drew Comins of Creative Engine also serves as executive producer.

ABOUT CRAIG WEDREN
Craig Wedren first gained notice as the dynamic, multi-octave-wielding frontman of Shudder to Think. With its eccentric song structures and complex time signatures, the band would prove a significant influence on math rock, post-hardcore, and emo. As Shudder to Think wound down, Wedren began to pursue new, vital sonic avenues of his own including several solo albums. Recent projects include Sabbath Sessions – his musical meditations that represent his first explorations of ambient choral music, where Wedren’s technique of sampling and looping his famously elastic voice results in a unique kind of sound bath; and The Dream Dreaming, a recent series of singles and videos that allows Wedren to focus on a song and its visuals at the same time, candy flipping between the two as one informs the other.

Wedren has released a series of solo albums and related collaborative projects and, at the same time, his music has become an essential part of some of film and television’s most popular and lauded shows. Craig’s composing resume includes extensively working with director Lisa Cholodenko (The Kids are All Right) and David Wain (Role Models, Wet Hot American Summer); and create evocative, decidedly contemporary scores for cultural-touchstone films and television series including The School of Rock, Laurel Canyon, Reno 911!, The State, GLOW, Fresh Off the Boat, and Shrill.

ABOUT ANNA WARONKER
Anna Waronker is a composer, songwriter, singer and artist. Well known as the front woman and songwriter for the Los Angeles based band that dog. Anna has taken her unique melodic and harmonic sensibility and personal lyrical wit into composing for film and television. Notable scores and soundtracks include Shrill (with whom she so-composed with Craig Wedren), Santa Inc, the cult classic Josie And The Pussycats, and many more. Anna has also worked in theater as a composer penning the music, book and lyrics with Charlotte Caffey (Go-Go’s) for Lovelace A Rock Opera (The Hayworth Theater, Edinburgh Fringe Festival) and songs and score for Lily Tomlin and Jane Wagner’s The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe (Los Angeles LGBT Center/Davidson/Valentini Theatre). Anna has produced and released two solo albums and four albums with that dog., most recently the critically acclaimed Old LP (UMe) in 2019. In addition to Yellowjackets, Anna is currently working on Harriet The Spy, an animated series for Apple, her second season of Fox’s Call Me Kat, and Showtime’s new comedy I Love This For You set to air in the Spring of 2022.

ABOUT THEODORE SHAPIRO
Over the past two decades, Brown University and Juilliard-trained film composer Theodore Shapiro has treated each film he’s worked on, whether playing for laughs or drama, with a musical seriousness that not only demonstrates his technique but strengthens the movies in the process. He has collaborated with top-flight filmmakers including Karyn Kusama, Paul Feig, Ben Stiller, Jay Roach, David Mamet, and David Frankel. He’s been solving cinematic puzzles both light and dark, scoring some of Hollywood’s classic comedies—including Old School, Tropic Thunder, Dodgeball and Blades of Glory—as well as Paul Feig’s hilarious, female-powered films (Spy, Ghostbusters: Answer the Call). He’s also cracked the code of political dramas (Bombshell, the Emmy-nominated Game Change, Trumbo), animated adventures (Spies in Disguise and Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie, both of which earned him Annie nominations), unconventional adventures (The Secret Life of Walter Mitty), and mysteries (A Simple Favor). He also pulled a jazzy score with Gene Hackman in Heist, accentuated the tyranny of Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada, made the tears flow in Marley & Me, and found the humanity in an incorrigible Bill Murray in St. Vincent.

Starring Melanie Lynskey, Tawny Cypress, with Emmy
Nominee Christina Ricci, and Oscar® and Emmy® nominee Juliette Lewis,  Yellowjackets is now streaming on Showtime.
